Allergy Testing
Allergy is defined as a “harmful, increased susceptibility to a specific substance,” also known as hypersensitivity. Allergic diseases are the sixth leading cause of chronic disease in the United States. Approximately 20 percent of the U.S. population suffers from allergic diseases and it is estimated that in 1998, increased absenteeism and reduced productivity due to allergies cost U.S. companies more than $250 million. (American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology)
Allergies are a common problem in the Hill Country and I would like to help you make them a thing of the past. Medication, education on how to avoid allergens, and immunotherapy can make you feel like a new person. So many of us deal with allergies on a daily basis and think that it is normal. The truth is many allergy sufferers do not realize what it feels like to be normal. Immunotherapy is a long term process that can desensitize a patient to the source of his allergies.

Weight Loss Clinic
Obesity affects nearly one-third of the adult American population. The number of overweight and obese Americans continues to increase. Over half of our adult population can be classified as overweight. This is based on BMI. BMI is calculated by dividing a person’s body weight in kilograms by their height in meters squared (weight [kg] height [m]2) or by using the conversion with pounds (lbs) and inches (in) squared as shown below. This number can be misleading, however, for very muscular people, or for pregnant or lactating women.
Despite the growing epidemic that is obesity insurance companies typically do not pay claims on weight loss counseling. I do offer this service along with close follow up. Anxioretics used to treat obesity are controlled medications and do have risks just like all medications.
However, if weight is a problem for you, I would be happy for you to attend a weight loss class with close one on one supervision.
